Dark Metallic Text Effect

Step 1:

Let’s start out by creating a new file. I used a 600×500 pixels canvas set at 72dpi, and I filled my background with black. Now make a new layer set and name it ‘Dark Text Effect’. Then select the Horizontal Type Tool then set the font family to Arial, regular, 150 pt, smooth and black color shade.

Step 2:

Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add an Inner Glow and Gradient Overlay blending options to your black text layer.

Step 3:

In a new text layer add your name again nudged to the left by a couple of pixels.

Step 4:

Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add an Inner Glow and Pattern Overlay blending options to your second black text layer.

Result:

Step 5:

In a another new text layer type your name with white color.

Step 6:

Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add an Inner Glow and Gradient Overlay blending options to your white text layer. Then set the layer’s blending mode to Darken.

Step 7:

Now merge down your ‘Dark Text Effect’ layer set through Layer > Merge Layer Set. Then go to Filter > Artistic > Plastic Wrap and apply it to the layer using the settings below.

Step 8:

Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add an Inner Glow blending option to your dark text layer.

Result:

Step 9:

Now add a marquee selection around your text design and go to Edit > Copy Merged. Then paste what you copied and apply a radial blur through Filter > Blur, use the settings below.

Result:

Step 10:

Move the blurred layer behind your dark text design layer and apply a Sharpen effect through Filter > Sharpen More.
